Hi Friend,

Some weeks feel like smooth water.
Others feel like you’re pushing against a current that just won’t cooperate.

This edition was inspired by a simple thought I couldn’t shake,
a river doesn’t stop just because something gets in the way.

If life feels slow, redirected, or heavier than usual right now, I hope this piece reminds you of something important, you’re still moving, even when it doesn’t feel like it.

Take what you need. Leave the rest.
And as always, thanks for being here.

The River Keeps Going

A river doesn’t rush itself. It keeps going…

It moves forward whether the day is calm or chaotic, whether the path is clear or cluttered with obstacles it didn’t ask for.

When something blocks its way, it doesn’t argue with it.
It doesn’t take it personally.
It simply finds another way through.

At times, that means slowing down.
At times, it means changing direction entirely.
And at other times, it means widening, deepening, or waiting until the pressure is enough to move again.

But the river never confuses resistance with failure.

It understands something we often forget, forward motion doesn’t always look like progress from the outside. Sometimes, below the calm surface that almost seems still, there is flow. Forward momentum. When the ice freezes over it’s surface, below there is direction…

There are seasons when life asks you to move quickly.
And seasons when it asks you to move carefully.
Both still count.

Even when a river’s course is shifted, by weather, terrain, or time, it doesn’t lose its purpose... It adapts and continues on, carrying everything it’s learned with it.

You’re allowed to do the same.

You’re allowed to pause.
You’re allowed to reroute.
You’re allowed to change shape when life demands it.

None of that means you’re off track.

Like the river, you haven’t forgotten where you’re going.
You’re just finding the best way to get there.

This Week’s Journal Prompt

Take a few quiet minutes with one (or all) of these:

  • Where in my life do I feel slowed down right now?

  • What if this isn’t a blockage, but a bend in the river?

  • How have I adapted before. and what did that teach me about my own resilience?

  • If I trusted that I’m still moving forward, what would I stop worrying about today?

Write without editing. Let it flow.
Rivers don’t overthink their direction, and you don’t have to either.

Like A River

I bend.
I slow.
I change my shape.

But I don’t stop.
I don’t forget.
I still flow forward.

Like a river,
I find my way.

If this piece met you where you are today, consider sharing it with someone who might need the reminder.
Not because they’re behind.
But because sometimes we all forget, we’re still moving, even when the water feels slow.

Thanks for letting these words flow through your inbox.
Until next time, keep going.
